Have you tried making a scarf with the Boutique Sashay yarn or other similar yarn?  I made a few to give as gifts for Christmas.  They turned out pretty.  I used size 7 knitting needles and 6 stitches. The pattern is on the lable, just knit these stitches until you run out of  yarn.  You are only knitting the top 2 strings.  The rest will fluff out to make the ruffle.

Do you like to make things for your pets?

I do an annual Christmas card that usually involves my pets.  This year I decided to make them elf hats.  Figuring out where to put their ears was little tricky.  How do you think my picture turned out?  Here are Baby, Duke and Patches posing for their picture.

Getting ready for the holidays is a year round endeavor for many crafters. If you lead a busy life, you have to learn to make time for your crafts. Before you know it, gift giving time will be here and you will be scrambling to make last minute gifts. I enjoy crocheting items that are small, therefore the time involved to make them is not great. Family and friends always seem to like hats, scarves and other items that go well with the holiday season. You can find many patterns for these at a site called Craftsy.com

One new crochet pattern that I have just finished for the season is for a pretty[1]Christmas Tree Skirt  . It is easy to crochet and it can be with any worsted type yarn.

Holidays give us incentive to crochet or knit a special gift for someone. Now that Valentine's Day is right around the corner, I have to come up with some gifts. Sachets and bookmarks are pretty fast to make. A lacy box in the shape of a heart is another choice. Or, I might crochet a floral doily like the ones my grandmother used to crochet. There are so many good ideas at the Knitting & Crochet Pattern Archive that I find it hard to choose. That is what I love about looking at vintage patterns. They inspire you to make something beautiful for the one you love. What are you creating for your Valentine?

    Do you tat?

    September 8, 2011 by LaStade

How many people have tried the needle art of tatting? I just love the pretty lace created by this delicate knotting technique. I have not tried tatting yet, but I keep saying that once I retire, I will find time to master it. It is one of the rarer needle arts today. The only person I know that tatted was my great-grandmother Cotner. She and my grandmother Oathout taught me how to knit and crochet, but teaching a ten year old to tat might have been a little too hard. I also have all of grandma O’s Workbasket magazines , which had a tatting pattern in almost every is…

Creating this wiki about knitting and crochet patterns has been so exciting and fun! Have you seen our favicon? It is supposed to be a ball of yarn. I think it turned out great! I can tell we are going to have an interesting wiki as it progresses along. I think it will help keep those old patterns that we love from fading away.

Thank you to all that have contributed pages of patterns. I have enjoyed looking at the variety of patterns from all the different decades.
